1. Tell us about yourself.

Hi, I'm Sherry Cardona, originally from Colombia. I moved to Spain when I was 9 years old, which exposed me to adapting to new cultures from a young age. Currently, I'm living in the Netherlands. I have always had a deep love for the outdoors, adventure, and traveling. Three years ago, I discovered a newfound passion for cycling, which led me to start my YouTube channel, Buzzalong. This platform allows me to connect with like-minded people, be creative, and share fun memories.

2. What do you love about cycling

Cycling holds a special place in my heart because it allows me to feel a sense of freedom and connection with the world. Long-distance cycling, in particular, is my favorite as it lets me explore new places and gain a unique perspective on life. It's a way for me to break free from the constraints of everyday life and discover the beauty of different landscapes. Additionally, cycling provides me with a sense of belonging and unity with the global community, reminding me that, regardless of my background, I am just a human, a citizen of the world.

3. What barriers have you faced in cycling

As a woman in cycling, I've faced the misconception that I may not be strong enough for the demanding ultra-distance races. However, this motivates me further to prove that women are just as capable. I appreciate that ultra races are inclusive, allowing both men and women to compete on a level playing field, with equal opportunities.

4. Why were you interested in contributing?

I was interested in contributing because I wanted to share my passion for cycling and the unique experiences I've had since the start of my journey 3 years ago. By doing so, I hope to inspire others, especially those who may face similar challenges in adapting to a new environment or considering starting long-distance cycling.

5. Your fondest memory on the bike

One of my fondest memories on the bike was completing the Transcontinental race No9 with my partner. Sharing such an incredible journey with a loved one is incomparable. Overcoming significant challenges together brought us closer, and cycling across a continent was a unique experience that transformed me. Meeting amazing people along the way added to the richness of the journey, making it an unforgettable memory.
