Tell us about yourself:

I’m Emmanuel, mainly known as 616 on social media. I’m an ex professional footballer who’s newly found passion for cycling has lead into cycling content creation.

What do I love about cycling:

I love how much it has taught me about myself, it’s shown me that it’s okay to try something different and step out of your comfort zone. It allows me to challenge myself and also provides an escape from the busy city life to quiet country roads.

What barriers have you faced in cycling?

A lot of the time I feel a sense of not fitting in or being out of place, especially on social media. It’s easy for people to make comments that they wouldn’t necessarily make in person and that can often cloud my judgement of how people perceive me in the cycling community. The idea of trying to fit in can often make you stand out more, so I’ve decided to be my true self regardless of who is watching.

Why were you interested in contributing?

I want be encourage people who come from similar background to myself to not be afraid of trying something new. There shouldn’t ever be a worry of not fitting in, especially in sports and I want to lead by example to others.

Your fondest memory on the bike?

Definitely cycling onto the beach at the end of The Dunwich Dynamo after completing 112 miles through the night. I remember feeling a sense of accomplishment and couldn’t wait to watch the sunrise.
