Tell us about yourself

I’m Elle; I’m a Fitness Professional and Creative Entrepreneur based on the outskirts of London so I get the best of both worlds - the non stop city vibes and the never ending forest on my doorstep. If I’m not on a road bike, I’ll be out on the gravel trails or racing cyclocross. And if I’m not outdoors on two wheels, I’ll be indoors on the turbo or teaching indoor cycling classes. I’m currently a Level 2 Cycling Coach (and Cyclocross specific) and a Breeze Ride Leader which is a British Cycling initiative hosting women only rides.

What do you love about cycling

For me, cycling has always been about freedom. It was my way to get around and connect with friends before I could drive. Since I rediscovered cycling as an adult, its been an adventure discovering all the different ways to have cycling in my life and seeing where my legs can power me to!

What barriers have you faced in cycling

As much as cycling feels widespread when you’re in the sport (versus utility cycling), it’s actually pretty niche. Alot of people get into cycling through friends and family, but if you don’t know anyone who rides… it’s not as easy to get involved.

Why were you interested in contributing?

When I first got involved in the sport, there was no-one that looked like me. I’ve loved seeing the sport diversify but I’ve still got plenty to share in the space, and the best way I know how is through writing, content and community.

I’m passionate about providing pathways for women into cycling, and supporting them on their journeys.

Your fondest memory on the bike

I think I have to choose a cluster, from 2017. It was when I decided I wanted to bikepack to Paris from London and found some friends to do it with me. It was the first time I trained for cycling and it paid off! After that trip in the July, I then took part in the iconic RideLondon event and followed that up with a sportive in my home, Barbados! That really was an epic Summer on the bike and the beginning of me exploring what I could do on two wheels!
